When I Say Goodbye

When I Say Goodbye

A Poem by Thomas Ryan

The world will end when I say goodbye,
When shadows fall and silence sighs.
The sun will set in muted gold,
As stories cease, left untold.

The wind will whisper through the trees,
Echoes of lost memories.
Mountains crumble, oceans dry,
The world will end when I say goodbye.

Stars will fade from the night sky's grace,
As moonlight flees, without a trace.
Time will halt, in still repose,
No more tomorrows, no more glows.

Birds will hush their morning song,
Silence where they once belonged.
Flowers wither, rivers lie,
The world will end when I say goodbye.

Hearts will mourn the absent beat,
Endless quiet on empty streets.
Dreams dissolve, as dawn won't rise,
The world will end when I say goodbye.

Yet in this end, a truth will lie,
Love persists, it cannot die.
Though worlds may fall, and skies may cry,
Eternal is the love, in our goodbye.
