How Things Go When You Lose a Friend

How Things Go When You Lose a Friend

A Poem by Thomas Ryan

When you lose a friend, it’s hard to comprehend, the pain and the hurt that you feel in the end. You try to move on, but it’s not the same, you feel like you’re playing a losing game.

The memories you shared, they’re all that remain, The laughter, the joy, and the moments of pain. You wish you could go back, to relive it all, but time marches on, and you can’t stop its call.

You try to forget, but it’s hard to do, the memories keep coming, they’re all about you. You try to move on, but it’s not that easy, the pain and the hurt, they make you feel queasy.

But life goes on, and so must you, you’ll find new friends, who’ll help you through. The memories will fade, but they’ll never be gone, your friend may be lost, but their memory lives on.

So, when you lose a friend, don’t give up hope, Remember the good times, and learn how to cope. Life is too short, to dwell on the past, so cherish your memories, and make them last.
