Past Christmas Times at Home

Past Christmas Times at Home

A Poem by Thomas Ryan

In Clonmel's embrace, past Christmas's prime,

Where joyous chimes danced in wintertime,

Amidst hearths aglow and laughter's climb,

Memories linger, a cherished paradigm.

Snowflakes whispered secrets in the night,

As carols adorned the air so bright,

Families gathered in cosy delight,

Embracing traditions, a heart's respite.

The scent of pine and crackling fire's cheer,

Gifts exchanged, spreading warmth so dear,

Tables adorned with festive fare sincere,

Love's abundance, the essence clear.

In Clonmel's haven, a cherished scene,

Where love and kinfolk's bond convene,

Echoes of joy from years serene,

Past Christmas time, forever keen.

A thought to say goodbye forever.

In the shadowed depths where memories lay,

A whisper stirs, a thought to say goodbye forever.

Echoes fade, the silent heart takes flight,

Into the mists of a bittersweet night.

In whispered vows, in tear-stained skies,

A farewell bid with sorrow's guise.

Paths diverge, divergent fate's decree,

Parting ways, in solemn, finality.

Time’s grasp surrenders, in the twilight's gleam,

Farewells etched in the fabric of a dream.

For in this parting, a universe unfolds,

New destinies in the tapestry it holds.

Yet in the realm where the past resides,

A cherished echo forever abides.

Through the ache, the heart's silent cry,

A thought lingers on, a goodbye, goodbye.
