Innocence LostA Poem by Ryan123Innocence Lost We all live in a fairytale, Your hand held in mine, My heart beating in your grasp, The core of my soul trembles in your wake, We all live in a fairytale, You promised me the world wrapped in a blanket of ecstasy, I offered you my life, cradled in a net of ignorance. The heavens cloaked the innocence of our youth, We all live in a fairytale, Over time, regret drips from your mouth like poison. My life, your antidote, obscured by the wariness of the world, And time, slips through our fingers like water, We all live in a fairytale, You scream with lustful agony in the moonlight, Trying to re-capture a glow long since lost, I endure knowingly, under the shadow of wise night, Wiping the cold sweat from your brow, We all live in a fairytale, Or does that fairytale live in us? You cripple my heart, You break my soul, I survive © 2012 Ryan123Featured Review
