Beloved Dandelion

Beloved Dandelion

A Poem by Ruth Martz

Beloved Dandelions

Oh, dandelion
I love to watch you grow
from yellow bud
to golden flower
you change yourself
each coming hour

Children pick you
for their mothers
who receive them
as if they were a rose bouquet

As you grow old
your hoary heads
are blown into the wind
as your seeds drift
down into the earth
I know you’ll grow again

I love Dandelions , Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones called his son Dandelion
And the stones have a song Keith wrote called Dandelion , you can hear on utube

This reminds me of a poem I wrote, called "Dandelion." Our poems are not the same, but they both sing the praises of the humble dandelion. Dandelions do have beauty, even if gardeners do not welcome them!

Lovely sunny disposition and I like to watch their seeds disperse in the wind. I don't think of them as a weed. Just another flower struggling to survive. Kidsive them. Nicely penned Ruth.
