A Flash of the Lightning: A Tribute to Barry Allen I run through a frozen world, none can match my speed Time slows down and cannot ever catch up A red blur races through your normal world In a never ending race for justice and peace Like a crack of a whip, a flash of the lightning I run through the ticks of a second no time wasted Light-years become miles and miles become feet Wind resists but it leaves no challenge Faster! Faster! I must push on! My family reaches out for me from the beyond I must not stop, can’t quit now! To give the world a fighting chance Finally, here it comes, the ultimate rush! The pain comes but then it’s gone, too slow to keep up The deed is done, the race has ended My shell and my ring is all that remains Through I am gone, my memory survives The next generation takes up arms And in one voice, their cry is clear “From this day forth, The Flash lives again!” © 2008 Rusty S. |
