Teeth, Tongue, True Love

Teeth, Tongue, True Love

A Poem by Russe Salome

You kiss me like a stab wound.
The ripped mouth convulses-
dripping-
and the red stains
are sweet in me.
So when we kiss,
we’re bruising.
The love festers
under skin,
the thin boundary between
our blood.
Just a peel away
and my insides could
tangle
with you.
Our knots
slip together and
tighten
like those red strings:  it’s destiny.
Let’s grind our bones
together
‘till dust do we part.
Kiss me again
and I’ll hemorrhage
back into your mouth.

I love the imagery and diction in this poem.
Despite what some people would describe as gory imagery, I love the fact that it has the ability to be out of a horror movie and still romantic at the same time.
