twinkledom

twinkledom

A Poem by RuseInex

i look up
at a dark sky,
tonight,
i see nothing
past the stars,
this time

i’ve lost the wonder
i look back down,
in the memories
of my past,

i look,
to want
to find
those sparks
of light
of stars bright
to again fill my heart
with wonder
with thirst
to rediscover
to want the mystery
that moved me
once before

though they are points of light,
i see no stars
i see only
platinum sparks
of white light

they fail to interest me,
the magic is lost,
it is gone
no twinkle,
twinkle, little star

there are many,
most care nothing
of them,
countless

who cares of the number
of the shine
of the twinkle,

the numbers,
so meaningless,
they are into their own
none care
for what’s really happening to us

what matters
while nothing changes
we’re still headed to oblivion
and they will twinkle on
while humanity slumbers

work is good
it gives purpose,
but too much, too soon,
too often,
kills,
kills the spirit
from which it is hard to rise

a breaking body
broken by the world
kills the chance to dream
to rise with inspiration
is a wondrous aspiration
take it while it’s at hand

the landscape’s filled with dust
people wander about
like dimmed specks
of dull an’ waning light
grey obscured,
no twinkling,
nor wondering,

wandering,
searching orbs
performing repetitious works

keep doing what is right,
struggling against all forces
that squelch that wonder
that try to extinquish
the twinkle of discovery
the joy for living
perhaps it will return
maybe the stars
will shine and twinkle
for me again

This poem speaks to me loudly about the author's mood. To lose all feelings for the wonders of a starlit night tells me that you are in the doldrums, you have hit rock bottom. I have always found comfort in the night sky while there is turmoil everywhere else. I find star gazing peaceful for my soul. I sincerely hope that the author's spirit lifts and some joy creeps back into the void.
