failed loveA Poem by RuseInex
when i met you
i tried to hide my loneliness in you i tried to find who i was we hit it off though we were strangers you, from back east, ohio me, here, in california me, looking up into the sky, your blue eyes above me looking into mine i got to hold you close i got to look into you i got to hear your voice, words for only me your long brown hair your scent, like a wheat field near the ocean coast i lost my loneliness your smile your laugh your kiss, made mine i found me, we had each other for awhile what made you cross the line? what made you blatantly abuse mine? i think now, from far away years of long ago, our time together was short, not deep enough you wandered away i wasn’t wise enough i didn’t take the time i made you cross the line you and he in full view of my eyes that once looked into yours you and he, in my face holding his, ignoring mine without even so much as a goodbye, you left me cold i lost myself again i take the blame i went about, pretending i knew, my own way pretending you weren’t there, like the strangers we once were but, you could of said hello you could have spoken you could have been sarcastic, even glanced me a venom eye it would have felt better than your cold indifference you could have explained but, you pretended too, made me a total stranger that hurt, a bit it made me sad, quite a bit though, i was surprised, a lot, that i was not indignant maybe you wanted me to find out, why to fight for you to plead with you it’s hard to do that when you don’t know yourself, i wasn’t wise enough it was as much fault of mine as it was yours, our love failed in turning not to passion © 2019 RuseInex |
