Hurricane

Hurricane

A Poem by RuseInex

the buzz of fear,
ghostly electric humid heat in the air
i am but the tiny
the puny speck,
the speck i am
of sheer nothingness
in it's wake,
about to landfall strike

i shout, "be still!
and yet it ponderously ever moves,
lashing with its flailing arms that rip
they tear
they lash and split, rip and saw
out of control
it splays bullets of stinging rain
needles of pain

black clouds of roiling tar
form the face of darkest hate
sticking to the horizon
like densest slate
rising to the top in the distance
parading oncoming death
she comes for the second time

and then i beg for it to stop
still they come, her whirling arms unrestrained
in fullness of wetted wrath
while others play the tune of sweet escape,
chased away the first time
safe away from her reach

now again she makes the earth to quake
this crazy hurricane
her slaughter unrestrained
bringing her overwhelming flood
to mix with blood

she made the many run far away
still shaking from her reign

the buzz of nerves,
the twitch and buzz
and tension snaps
the heat can drive you nuts
makes me cower in the dark
deep below the concrete tomb
i hear nothing but the roar

i make a compulsive streak for topside
its sticky lust for me
to suck me into its hold overpowers me
to draw me into its loins
and make me suck its womb
i fight hard to break its grip
mesmerized to stay above
and feel her killing force
before its full viciousness strikes the shores again

and again she lashes with her open fist
sending me reeling back below
to quake like a wounded coward

it's so very far away to her eye
to now
to me
to hear her come to destroy
to pull me out of my burrowed place

so very far away
now i take my self
outside my body
into my mind
i fly by the seat of my pants
entering into my spirit and wish
to be away from this awful place,
to leave no trace,

i thrash the frigid, concrete walls
and feel the air of space,
the cruel above

i feel the heavy ways of boundless magnitude,
no mortal match for mortal me,
it's force beyond my mind to plumb
as the hurricane slowly moves to land,
i hear her piercing wail and scream,
to wreck it all again
and again,
bloodthirsty killer

i shout, "be still!"

i reel, i shirk,
i land upon my back and scream into the night

i lie here from far away in the humid dark and think
i shiver in the heat, the magnitude,
the roar,
the whirling winds of fury's hate above
the stale air here below
the claustrophobia

there is no other place i'd rather be
no other place,
than to never, ever have been here
never,
never have been here
