Looking for a PlaceA Poem by RuseInexI’ve scanned the skies, the far distant horizons Looking for a place to rest A place to rest my head A place to satisfy my weariness and be fed I cannot find Not lasting, always fleeting Like a hungry baby lamb that’s bleating Looking for a place that can’t be found Upon the lonely barren lands that hold Only struggle overall Nothing lasts, all things crumble A place to rest my head and not stumble Where earthquakes don’t destroy my bed I’ve looked high as i can get Hard to find as is gold Looking low is easy, It comes at you like a rabid dog that bites I cannot find a place to satisfy my need for peace As i lay quiet, i cannot stop the sound of rustling angry feet The empty voices on the street Fill my head, the same as told Nothing new under the burning sun Just a matter of one, another day, another wait I know the outcome of what’s at stake I watch my back, i plot out the course To inhibit the likelihood of getting burned Inevitably, no matter how i guard Something’s always there to trip the gate I’ve constant walked through the valley of shadow of death In my mind and in my dreams Fed by the things the world said I've stumbled in the dark and bled Looking for a simple place to lay my head finding pain and trouble instead Earthquakes and pelting rain destroyed my bed The vortex of the black, whirling wind of raging clouds Spun countless times overhead I ran for shelter away from the rocks Where wild creatures my soul sought I stumbled near a placid lake high up the wilderness And there i found a little rest Your voice i did not hear in the loudness of the storm Or in the thunder of things that boast I found a place of solitude A quiet state of rectitude Within the folds of my crumpled soul Inside my heart that you first made tick, Form the very instant that i birthed, In my mother’s suffering womb Your voice i heard in the quietness An inner whisper sure and sweet, yet loving firm In this world you will suffer, guaranteed To my words pay vital heed Trust in me through good and bad A peace like no other i’ll steer you with Through manifold trials and treacherous traps Laid by your adversary the wicked one Rest your head, Make your bed upon my lap I the Lord will guide you past And in your final hour, then I’ll grant you passage through my pearled gates, Into eternal rest My father will wipe your every tear, The ones he’s bottled, kept track of though all your years We’ve watched you walk upon the broken earth He’ll wipe your face with his loving hands And say to you, Well done my friend, come inside Until the indignation below be overpast © 2017 RuseInex |
