![]() stormy voyage i am yoursA Poem by RuseInex
i can barely keep my eyes open
my mind is adrift in a fog of fatigue sleep taunts me, fitless and elusive, casts me to the sharks of painful wakefulness that slam and rip upon me, that spin my head to ache, i am sick heavy, like lead i drift moored to a broken body in a whirlpool of nausea, round and round, like a spinning circus that makes me want to crawl out of my skin as i resist to stay awake sleep mocks the wheelhouse is damned my course is to belong to forever someday the plot makes it the more real, yet surreal due its difficulty in its challenges just makes me want the real deal, now all the more painful 'cause it's not mine yet gets more difficult each day, adrift at sea in a valley of death and dark, i reach for you he takes the helm the skies are filled with clouds of grey and white there is a morning doldrum in their wings it comes, it flies like a lazy bird of scavenge it hides from my hungry, tired eyes and strikes like a silent plague it fills my lungs with its stain i watch you labored, breathe as i take a staggered step to reach for you the span of time has no regrets, it has no rue, bold it walks through valleys of death it holds its secret to its breast its jagged teeth drip its dread dares to sink 'em in your dreams to rip and tear and snare you with its fear it cares not what you may think nor i, it binds us to sharp horns of regrets made stronger by our present weakness it's agony to see you fade away i am not aware of what is past without feeling, even in the burn of misery deep inside my imploded chest
you, as helpless as i, fail in your try to eat your piece of crusty bread, along with mine, the pain and famine stays we draw water and bring up blood i starve to look upon your face your lips pressed close and hard to mine are so very hard to resist even in death's embrace i hear the chime of the midnight toll, of the roll call we're on board the lonely ship it travels in the crack of day my hunger grows my sacrifice is you the rolling waves of music like a slow gallop, breaks their crest plays your heart, forced to lay your mind on mine i am for now a bit more satisfied i will swim a thousand leagues for you but for a short time we live and give we put our best shoes on and vest and move along like the rest, thinking not our end will come and hit against the rock of what is built by those who do their best to undermine your work and mine we cannot lay down our arms back to the bridge we take the helm steady on with the course steady now, through the gale and the guns to the next horizon whatever be the cost, we don't have much time, forever you are mine © 2017 RuseInexReviews
