tried

i tried to squeeze time out of a minute and lost an hour,
i tried to pull extra minutes out of an hour, 
i just wanted to extend my day,
to make it last forever with time to build and rest,
no one to tear things down
no one to steal what's free,
no one to sell what belongs to all,
i just wanted to to enjoy the good times of laughter and love,
without someone to start a war,
to forget the fire and the pain,
just some time for me to heal,
to live the moment, 
to make time last in love and peace

the only time time stood still,
was when i looked back and re- lived the many times 
of my suffering 
when someone was tearing another person into bits
when someone was stealing and selling other people's souls
it seemed time lasted an eternity
