I poised a speck of dust upon my fingertip and blew upon it
it rose aloft and sped into the surrounding air
i traced its path and considered the specks in the universe
and became unnerved, i swerved onto another path,
a path of wonder that threw me asunder
what am i but collective specks of dust divine
for inert matter cannot breathe and live and think
it cannot comprehend or fathom its own existence
it cannot appreciate life or reflect upon its own being
it cannot attribute its own conscienceness
to the one who brought it into being a thing

i peered upon a droplet of water on a leaf
i saw my face reflected and pondered such phenomenon
as it sat suspended above the force of gravity,
held in my living hand
somewhere unseen, the mitochondria, the vacuoles and membranes sustained the leaf and me
the drop of water held together by tensile forces of molecular polarity
and ionic attraction,
hydrogen atoms bonded with oxygen,
capable of providing life in the universe to organic beings
made of carbon molecules and such
and yet in separate form, gases
with explosive power to burn, provide thermal heat as energy,
light as air

the quantum specks of dust, tinest of particles by electron scans,
comprise the dna, intricate coiling thread
held together by invisible force,
made alive by same
God made man of dust,
breathed into him and eve,
life divine
