fishbowl feel

fishbowl feel

A Poem by RuseInex

leashed by time and space
on the level of a cosmic fish bowl
looking out wanting in on the outside
can't go where i want anyway

top of mount everest
only for the limited elite few
who have a million or so

can't go where i want anyway
set foot where none other has before
in the wilderness, my favorite place
like a lonely desert, it's moonlit
pastel colors wanting me
like i want it
like a voyage around the horn of south america
or a magic fjord among the thousands
somewhere near the netherlands
far north of antarctica and back

i know there's life out there
tired of the stares
unassigned domain the over there
to me and you
thus far unlawful cannot enter in
outside a suit only offers certain death
astronomically way beyond any of our reach
for the minute few who dare
as in astronaut or cosmonaut

life's constraints
must labor by the sweat of one's brow
make the dough
to eat the bread

pay the bills
feed one's mouth, take care of the kids
love thy neighbor as thyself its totally understood
look up, look around
watch your back
get your rest, do your best
turn around another 5 to 10 years just flew by
and your doctor says get off the grease

no wings but those of metal and fire
but for billions of dollars
for the minute few who have
teeming millions have not

besides, mortality is utterly fragile
the next breath you take could be your last
flesh is easily vaporized
a trillion plus ways to meet one's demise

i know there's life out there
out of reach of mortality
beauty is skin deep
and simple life devoid of the truth is too

i wish i could step out of this fish bowl
permanently
there's only one way
the truth and the life and he knows best
he said no human's ever seen what he's got in store
it'll blow away the minds
of those who by faith believe
a hidden truth

i'll just have to wait,
for my own sake
'n that's the hardest part
takes more courage for this than being lost in space
with no rescue plan,
hurling further away at the speed far faster than a bullet
with no one to share the fear with

i want to leave the fish bowl
leashed by time and space
escape
into the celestial blue beyond
the reach of the pull of deadly death
the judgemental stare
by the one who schemes tirelessly to spread further lies
about how we too can become gods
if we just take another bite of the forbidden fruit
