great citiesA Poem by RuseInexeasy to lose one's way in a sea of loneliness
emptiness with escape from anything
atoms collide led by intelligence caught in the maelstrom of infinite energy the moving of living beings human and other life forms innumerable i search for meaning in the eyes of the walking, some talking on the streets of the city i search for the eyes of compassion and find the vacuum of souls their eyes empty, see through me and past me, into the distance my vision is blurred with the pain in my own the taste of this color, this sea of white faces, browns light and dark floating and bobbing walking about, milling and wandering purposeful some meandering some, erratic and aimless i stoop to pick up a coin and come near a stampede of collisions of human intentions mixed with indecisions whether to stop or stumble on through my own wayward obstruction their full frontal view, my impertinent skew the taste of this color is bitter and tart it poisons my palate and dizzies my heart what started in innocence, walk in the park led me to fearfulness, lost in the dark accustomed to country roads long and still birds flying high and mountains' backyard found me in cities of York curious tourism turned vexed voyager's perplexity © 2016 RuseInex |
