london

A Poem by RuseInex
"

stream of conscience appreciation blips of thoughts toward england

"

ah yes, London, sweet rigid, godly law

cambridge, oxford, wycliff vulgate word

king james his majesty and his queen

america offbreed child, sister dame

blacksheep's gain revolution's prize, the free

emancipation for all its colonized world

ruler in spain's stead, the seven seas, civilized steed

yankee breeds of her loins

London, sweet ranks of red, its blood

the white the pure, common law of right

the blue of starry field, eternal majesty, heaven's light

england swing like a pendulum do

London ranks, soldiers files, disciplined, no fear

british wars genteel's style

acultured dress, medallions' garb

white wigs, powdered curls, pigtailed bows

snuff boxes, painted portraits castle hung,

damsels fair and rough

London streets, accented speech, matchless tunes

stonehenge runes, british pubs and gallant chivalry

ale and rum, george and tyndale

england swing like a pendulum do

long live the british isles, light of the nations

lion of God, shining light over London bridge,

Roman's arch over all the world

crown of empires toil and mud

survived all time, scattered throughout the nations broad

long live London, royal England
