friend through stained glass window

friend through stained glass window

A Poem by RuseInex
"

there are friends that hang around and you love more than a regular friend, behaving in entirely different ways than with the regulars

"
Like a stain glass window,
Your eyes shine through me
like liquid amber your secrets untold, yet for me reserved
at last, near course’s end unveiled
to what end shall i pursue and store
with whom to share?

for i and all must board away
may be others stumbled along this way
leave things alone for now, though perplexed
consigned resigned like blind beggars tethered
resist not, the lot may go much better than
for bones and blood’s guts scattered,
for the ones that follow; they too will learn

or leave the world like a pin ball’s roll
stripped of the truth much shunned
stumbled in the dark of midnight’s blues,
world’s grip on you, on hold, snared along for the ride

spring will move on but you will remain
sigh and cry thousands’ tears; you saved no oil
when the final call, bell’s toll to watch is done
recall i warned and begged for your attention
you would not listen, nor hearken

i wish to take your place, not to go
it is not by choice, not mine to leave without you
i too am as helpless as you, it is part of the ride
i am a work of clay not made by human hands
fashioned by potter divine, i must bid the call

refrain, don’t kick and scream end’s demise,
vigilance calls upon you; you may not remain long,
chew fast, listen still, quietly, then resume your task
eat your strength and collect the oil that comes your way,
’til midnight black be over past

for the shout you will wait, after you believe
then grasp the bit of life your lot has left
see though brief life’s plight and plot a final course
breathe, your final step may be around the next bend

you filled your cupboard’s granaries, kept for future use
the rats intruded, polluted your lot, left you high and homeless
you etched your name upon the concrete of the overpass
turned away the hand that offered food
then stabbed your own heart’s back
there is one chance, last to take; take it

see me through the eyes of a stain glass window
i walk alone in midnight blue, search for you
you do not have to go alone,
until then if you decide to change
i will guide and nurture you, show you why, where and how,
that you may not go blind by world’s dark light
that aims to disown you after sucking you of life
