twistersA Poem by RuseInexsavagely whirling surreal dream produces a harsh reality
tornadoes moving on flat horizon’s field of vision
traveling fast west to east at alarming speed raising rubble, wild debris whirling winds swinging trees prairie grass in their paths moving militarily, spinning funnels stripping, piercing, stinging, twisting the land i count them, a wind’s brigade fifteen twenty, thirty five heading east on a planned mission fearless, unstoppable, bent on start to finish atmospheric plague ominous, fills my heart with dread silver white horizon breeds more in the distance i see in the northeast sky hundreds more, they spawn, descend touching down in ordered sequence from cotton shaped cumulus clouds at some unearthly power’s behest i am surrounded, my domain and land astounded no place to run or even hide my soul my mind and heart cannot abide ominous omen, i cry and cry reach my arms up to the sky the whirling winds carry me away then find myself awake my head is spinning in a reeling vertigo i rise from bed urinate, wonder and ponder i grope my way into the shower it is time for me to go to work © 2016 RuseInex |
