Quantum

Quantum

A Poem by RuseInex
"

imagine, ants have brains and blood vessels at such a tiny level and then there are even smaller creatures living on ants themselves or our eyelashes

"
from atop Half Dome
look far below
high aloft

i see
specks of trees
smaller still
moving particles
humans
with capillaries
pressurized blood
and brain
thoughts contained
therein

like lowly ants
possessing hearts
nerves and brain
infinitely
invisible

water bear
Tardigrada
microscopic
lives

mites on human
eyelash

live

mammoth
blue whale
100 foot length
200 tons weight
alive

virus
lives too
tiny robotic
hexagonal geometry
Kobuvirus,

Picornaviridae
with landing pads
living things
many fit in one
bacterium

what are their thoughts?

giant star
beyond immensity
words cannot grasp
compare our star
Helios
with VY Canis Majoris

our sun’s relative size
is the dot of the i here
Majoris’: 3 inches diameter

Earth: invisible to our
naked eye

What size
are our thoughts?

A deep perception is conveyed in this poem - questioning our notions of quantity and scale.

The last lines - wonderful!
