MicroMacroMusings

A Poem by RuseInex
"

technological jargon Mix with Romance on practical level

"
i couldn’t see a tiny threaded opaque
sheet metal screw that eluded my
all thumbs, cold morning grasp
raining el nino drizzle outside
steady
i found it again ledged precariously
“tween two thin thin plates
reflecting a minute glint of light
muttered a low sharp curse
contemplating a break
’n fetch a dang torch
grabbed it in haste
resumed my torment
self induced infliction
of tenacious obsession
repair her stained stove’s
window corning pane
not for accolades or
bedded trophy but
rather to fulfill the task
of my own purpose yes
and survive this thing
called marriage
with torch in hand
magnetic phillips in the other
i shakingly resumed the job
and pondered
photons
electrons
particles
packages, packets
of light
moving 186,000 miles each second
striking, reflecting
focusing my eye
on rogue bit of metallic bit
of inclined plane
ah yes, a simple 3/32 of an inch screw
flat, crossed, slotted head
i could see clearly now
illuminated,
opaque formally, dark matter
there, albeit invisible to naked light
devoid of light
(~90 percent of outer space is thought
by physicists to be comprised of dark matter)
apologies . . .
ah yes, the elusive object
coordinates of its location now
revealed, nakedly
exposed to light’s penetration
of the darkness
mammalian organ called eye
is worthless without this
phenomenon we hominids
call light
i pondered some more
“i am the light of the world,
without me you can do nothing”
So truth spoke truth
to me
a mere mortal
dust infused with inexplicable
light called life
so true
so fact
irrefutable
undeniable to me
once blind
’til i resorted to the torch
england’s term
flashlight here
northern hemisphere
daylight here, now 2:45 p.m
november 15, 2015
halfway around the world
far from greenwich, england
land bathed at present
in natural, sunless darkness
’cept for man’s creative
God endowed brilliance
of use of incandescent,
sodium vapor, LED
even fossil fuel, or other
means of, use of organic,
natural, i.e. forms of combustible
renewable Earth resource(s)
“let there be light” in these forms
to illuminate our sight
ah yes, light
what a wonderful, amazing, magical, mystical,
promethean phenomenon
so taken for grants
so inexplicable
by-product of fire
sparked by friction
wow!
two dried sticks and presto
flame!
heat and light
just give it fuel
or an alkaline, nickel cadium, or the likes
storage device(s) termed
battery
more complicated than all of this of course
Yes!
elusive screw is now magnetically drawn to tip
of aforesaid phillip’s cross tip
it adheres by opposites
invisible poles,
north and south
weak force gravity cannot here
overcome
i suspend it in air
shaking appendages of arm, hand and fingers
over a tiny hole
relative size
using perception of depth
screw casting long shadow in
miniature cleft of
only one of many
prefabricated holes
lower it gently into
it’s blueprinted niche
turn the special tipped
lever firmly engripped
clockwise mind you
screw nestled tightly
its head solidly secure
sustaining mechanical force
of stored kinetic
twists
lasted forever until released
either by “nature”
or intelligent intervention
establishing its purpose
intended by human
making mom
wife
person
happy with function
that invented
this cooking stove reassembled
may bake
a cake
for my wife/mistress cupcake
and her tinkering
handyman/husband lover
