Forlorn Love

Forlorn Love

A Poem by RuseInex
"

Loneliness, helplessness at love lost, love tossed on rocky romance

"
I said,
i love you with love immortal,
i love you like sound of
bells’ crystal chime

i love you, I said
in the whispering winds’ wings
of myriad voices
mixed in harmony
of yearning for you

You said, “I love you, . . .
then you said,
“I hate you,”

your words kill me
your rejection
sucked me from inward out
shaking me like leaves of trees
on these forest tops above me,
bending
throwing me against
nervous thoughts
to the sea’s
far distant rocks
fixed on
unpleasant thoughts,
sharp like the pricks
needles in my heart
’cause i miss you
you’re not coming back

the pounding keys of my heart
in tune to siren’s cries vibrations
shrieking with the cold sun
and salt’s encrusted
blasts of chill wind

sirens sit atop
singing
opened mouthed
feigned, serene faces
accompany their luscious,
wet, sensual forms
beckoning me,
celebrating
my love’s end,
singing
“She never loved you,
She hates you.”

I said,
your words killed me
your love will resurrect me,
will you return?
will you yield to my raining love
stinging your departing face,
your ship’s transport,
vacant port,
poured down around you,
isn’t it freezing cold
without each other’s warmth?

will you yield, finding yourself
moving to unending,
breathless hums,
rogue ship carrying you from me,
voices joining the swirling
moving,
following eddies’ lines
shining behind your ship’s hull

did you cry,
leaving your former love
lost drifting
on the sterile mirrored
sea of glass

floating away from me?
let the eddies’
currents drift
a last message to you
carried in waving watery arms
upward to the rushing winds
swirling circles’ mercy,
returning vibrations of your voice,
your scent to me

“I love you”
I say,
i’ll never see you again

i hear a thousand sirens
mocking my voice,
singing,
run to the cliffs
promising soft comfort

foggy air cleaves,
envelopes my skin
suffocates,
cold without you

trees hedge me in
no way, path or route,
to run
tangled in love’s strings
that used to connect me to you

careful
lest i lose my mind
heed siren’s spell,
panic run
hit the rocks and

plummet
off the edge of your words’
echoing
“I love you, . . .
I hate you”

i run to the cliffs
to catch glimpse of you
at the bottom
at the edge of
I love you . . .

I hear the sirens laugh
I see them stare
hungrily
at me and
against the horizon,

your departing ship sinks
into a silvery haze,
far distant line on edge of the sea,

a speck,
a memory
of my eternal love for you
