Fly free

something i wrote while i was feeling depressed in english class.

The rain soaks my wings, holding me down.

I try to fly, but my heart pounds.

I fight to live, fight to be free,

I fight against what They want me to be.

 

I start to give up, but I see a sight,

the beautiful glow of a hint of light.

Running fast towards the glow,

my heart burns, but I don't slow.

 

As it glows, it gives of heat.

I can feel the warmth in my head and feet.

My wings start to dry,

I kick off and fly.

I spread my wings,

as my heart sings.

 

I'm flying, I'm free,

Free to be me.

I didn't give in to what They told me to be.

 

I feel the warmth now, I see the sun.

The fight is over, my struggles done.

They started this battle, They started this fight.

They started this battle, but I won tonight.
