the prolouge of the book

"

I sat there, one august night. The sun was just setting, turning the thin clouds pink. The sky looked happy. As though it was happy this was happening to me.

I turned my head to look at her. Her soft auburn curls framing her face. Her blues eyes looking out over the hills, her small smile making my stomach flip. How could I ever hurt her? But it had to be done, and I had to be the one to do it.

“Grace?” I said softly, a fake smile on my face as she looked at me. The setting sun shone on her face, setting her hair ablaze, and forming a halo of light above. She was beautiful, like a little angel.

“Is everything okay?” her voice sounded worried as she reached for my hand.

“No, I need to tell you something, but I’m not sure how to start.” So I started from the beginning of my tale, or rather, how my tail began.
