Wasting Time

Wasting Time

A Poem by Sara Troxtell

When did I get here?
Shivering in this cold realization
That I'll never compare.
The wind combs thru dark hair
Casting shadows over dark eyes.
Another tear makes it way
Down a make-up streaked cheek.
I'm clever at hiding disappointment as you walk my way.
You're so beautiful in the error of your ways.
And I smile as I keep
trying to be the everything.
You take me into your warm embrace
With such a blank loveless stare.
The feelings of doom creep their way back up.
The rooms blinks to black nothingness
& you're nowhere to be found.
I slowly rose from my restless sleep
& shake off the dreams that echo
"You'll never be loved like her."
& I wonder...
Will there ever be a breaking point?
It's just that with the things you speak & do
Makes me realize I'm not the one
& I'm just wasting time.

It's more like she know she's better than the one he fell so hard for before her but he's still stuck on the past & she's torn because she doesn't get it and she becomes jealous of what they had and the time they had together. He talks about her a lot so she can't help but feel like she's being compared to the past.
