CobraA Poem by PoetryloverWomen and Child Abusehis fangs flattened ready for an attack she stands face to face with the monster his intent explicit his eyes cutting through her eyes dripping blood trying to decipher a way to escape but her broken limbs refuse to obey her command while he wins, he raises his head high fangs as big as an ostriches wings hopelessly she awaits for defeat instead a flying blow lands on her creased cheek patched it's almost as if tearing apart "Amai Ndafa"(mother I am dying) "Hure, Muroyi" (prostitute, witch) he spits like a cobra the venomous words penetrate her eardrums causing them to ring a tingling sensation, she blacks out she goes down rumbles or crumbles he seems not to notice dodging a fist and another and another and another. he turns to leave and there in the corner of the room a tiny figure watches in horror IT IS ME! petrified as if electrified shock runs through my veins my brains clouded and my mind haunted adrenaline rush my heart pounding. And then time stands still, it is real, eyes popped out advancing towards me greeted by a blow Down below I go I roll my eyes towards mother's disfigured body her lips moving as if to say "mwanawangu amai" (my child, mother) ruepoemx @ruepoems © 2020 PoetryloverAuthor's Note
