Like You

Like You

A Poem by Rudie Rock

I want to be graceful just like you.
Pretty like you,
Lovable like you.
but I am not you.
I am outspoken.
I am broken.
I am the definition of all that is undesirable.
I am refered to as "cute"
never beautiful.
I have a "good personality."
These things hit me subliminally.
Making me feel homely.
I like people
but not their backhanded words.
I don't want to be tolerated.
I want to be adored.
My entire life I have been treated like I am defective.
Now these limits thrusted onto me are holding me captive.
I am not you
and because of that I am stronger.
