Tis said that cemeteries are other worlds - the visual limbos fin which Man can praise, honour and weep or smile for the dead. For me, you've created something grey yet luminous. i don't find your very fine words creepy - more accurate, more wrapped by history. Have to admit to walking around cemeteries reading the tombstones, noting relationships, where and when. But there is something about marble.. its its coldness.. appears sentry like as if on guard.
This is a somehow beautiful poem.. in spite of its grey veil.
Powerful and good words my friend. Some places demand respect. I love your verbal poetry. Always good to hear the writer's voice. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

So true how some cemetery's can be daunting places with cold atmosphere.
Back home there is a really old one in the heart of Edinburgh that also has a path way that leads to either princess street or princess gardens and it used to creep me out everytime. The Huge large Stone heads.. some with sculptures of angels or birds !! Chills !!
In this write you can feel that death looming ...brilliant rudi!!

Thank you, Sereena, glad you liked this one too. :) Rudi
I've always been fascinated with the head stones of graves, especially of years long gone. When I lived back home, I would go and visit my parents regularly, and never want to leave. It never felt eerie to me to sit there and speak to them, as though they could hear me.
This, however, is chilling...and the echoing sound of your voice simply resonates throughout your verse. Much applause, Rudi. Next time, I'll bring the popcorn!
I'm from Belgium. English is not my native language, but I like to read English poems and books. I have written a lot of Dutch poems during the last forty years. With some of them I've got prizes in B.. more..
