A painting

Illuminated in the shadows a painting

looks into my deepest wandering thoughts

it tastes my senses, connecting the dots

into a colour, a form in my head is growing

 

with shades full of astonishing wonderment

on my lips open a bit or a finger upon

it reads out of the panel, acknowledgment

in the glance upon my face is drawn

 

to belong, to have and to possess

lined with a canvas, bordered in oak

it never looks down giving it’s bless

 

and when from my exalting state I stoke

the fire in my heart and in my head no less

I’ll be warm and happy with each pencil stroke.

As a painter, I am "sitting in the shadows" of your "deepest, wandering thoughts", a picture worth a thousand words, a color with a thousand shades, a thousand tints, transparent or opaque, a thousand vibrant emotions pouring out the perfume of a painting, of turpentine, of linseed oil, a wild pine forest in the wind, a woodpecker flash, the silent song of a soul, to "light the fire in my heart", and, "in my head, no less", without a word, without the wind, without the bird, with nothing heard, a thousand times the pines, transparent or opaque, are nowhere near a poem, dear, that's like the one you're written here.

Well, if truth be told, I started life as a painter. My father, who died when I was 11, was a painter. Many of the pictures which accompany my poems are of my paintings - mostly the sort of abstract ones (I should notate them). Anyway, now I write instead but, my painting experience is probably why my writing is full of images. I guess your love of painting does the same for you.

Indeed, that's a fact. When I see a painting or a picture, I see a story, a poem. My stories that I write are pieces of movie playing in my head, all I have to do is write them down (...sometimes).
