Drowning

Drowning

A Poem by Rudi J.P. Lejaeghere
"

The present was an egg laid by the past that had the future inside its shell. Zora Neale Hurston

"

How I set my sails

tight with feelings

in the storm being

the foam on the waves

and irrevocable

drowning

in the whirlpool

to be dragged further

and torn apart

I feel myself fled

spread in droplets

drowning

in a sea of thoughts

I’m gripping

my parts together

to blow a whole new me

on the beach

someone is picking me up

as a shell

I listen to the morning.

I wondered who it was I heard in those shells. I was told it was the ocean but I knew that was something grown-ups told to children and then winked at one another as though we would not notice. Now it becomes apparent it was the soul of someone lost at sea.

This i a great piece. Being so overwhelmed with it all, you feel like you are drowning and sometimes you need to hit rock bottom before you can start getting back up! love this and the photo is beautiful too!

Rudi: Phenomenal...it is so very relateable to me and without some chaos, something happening so horrible that shocks our senses, and our course that is different for everyone, there would be no humanity at all. As we age, I suppose, experiences pile up and those feelings/thoughts of being pulled this way and that change...I love your poems. You are so talented. Thank you...Dale

Thank you, Ann, means a great deal to me, really appreciated. Have a good day. :) Rudi
Another beautifully written piece about ridding oneself of old feelings, old memories and old ways - in this case drowning. I get a sense that one has to suffer that 'near death' experience before being able to star anew. I enjoyed this.

this is so hauntingly beautiful...especially the last stanza...reminds me a bit of "message in a bottle"---and the feelings evoked from that story.
