My house

My house

A Poem by Rudi J.P. Lejaeghere
"

In a full heart there is room for everything, and in an empty heart there is room for nothing. Antonio Porchia

"

My house has many rooms

in which I lose my way sometimes

I have one with windows, very big

but also another with thousand

little edges

one to store and keep old things

or one in which I throw everything

that deserves to be forgotten

for them who want to gawk

at all my childhood memories,

they have to dig a little deeper

because I put them in my cellar

to ripen like wine in oaken barrels

maybe later I can bring them upstairs again,

to amuse my kin and all their children

for making love

no room is too small

finally I have this one

in which nobody but me may come

it’s a little room

where I go to shed my tears.

Within this room
Which I claim
For myself.

Are the aches
And pains
Tucked away
From everyone.

Where the healing
Is allowed
Its own room
To engage
In its time consuming art.

Away from
The spotlight
Of everyday life.

Going
At its own pace
Knowing
It can't be rushed.

Or else
All is doomed
To failure
And death.

This is so beautiful - the metaphors for room, windows is fantastic. I love this poem. You are a wonderful writer, Rubi. Second stanza and of course last stanza my favorite. But it is all wonderful. Thank you.

there is that place only we get to go...that room..

as the beach boys sang.."there's a world where i can go and tell my troubles to"

and in this world we lock everything else out.

thank you for taking time to read my poem, glad you liked it. :)

Napoleon wrote about his inneer world being compartmentalized and of course the nature of the poem is to reflect upon the many shades of the imbuing. Then the recalling as if every recall will have its own draw. But you gave it an emotinal sincere personal twist by presenting fragility by making yourself more human than human. Also it could have fallen into sentimentalism but rather tthan that it came to me as corageous and open.

Its good to see you are in touch with yourself.

Thankyou
