Daybreak

A rare experience of a moment at daybreak, when something in nature seems to reveal all consciousness, cannot be explained at noon. Yet it is part of the day's unity. Charles Ives

On barefoot, yet before the day

dressed up in dew and greeting the grass

of gold and diamonds full, the tree

with rainbows upon and around

 

the sand spinning out in grains,

on my instep there’s a bit of daybreak

and crusts from the night before

 

through my ear sounds the corn,

the singing of the stalks,

it’s the magpie that steals the light

and is screeching in his flight

of a whole new start.

loved the first stanza except the part about rainbows at daybreak, i couldn't see them.

I should say, at the first daybreak look at light filtering through the trees, the dew droplets on the leaves that sparkle in the light that fall upon them, like diamonds. Thank you for you kind words. :)
