Restless

I'm flowing away as lava

 

within a fire is burning

 

awake is the volcano

spilling over on every side

 

in fire

 

in flame

 

on a river that mirrors

colours to the waxing moon

 

divide the warmth

under the yellow of the flood

 

in the red

of the sounds of my throat

 

my soul veined as glowing marble

just as my blood

that is speaking in words

 

in my head I’m restless.

I always love how you portray your feelings so succinctly and accurately with your words..somehow, you seem to find the most apt words to evoke such feelings in us readers. Might it be your background in writing Dutch poems? :)

I think so, yes. As a non-native English speaking person, it's not possible (yet) to write directly in English, so I have to write it in Dutch and make a free translation of it. I read a lot too and I try to read all my books in English ( also in French, being my second language here in Belgium, the Flanders). Thanks for reading so much of my writings, Tks. :) Rudi

There are a handful of poets on this site whose work I truly admire (and am sometimes envious of) and you, my friend, are on that list...I take great pleasure in reading your words as you never disappoint, always creating beautiful imagery and commanding great flow within each piece...

i've been dealing with a restless mind lately (thoughts that cannot be quelled) and this poem speaks to me this morning...simply beautiful, my friend!!

Oh wow.......hey, leave some space on the road for my lava too! Such a vivid picture.....and the relentless push of molten lava - unstoppable.....just like our restless thoughts, forever piercing everything trying to stop it.

And then, if blessed with being close to the ocean, the restless lava can be laid to rest in an explosion of steam.......until next time, our thoughts resurrect our anxieties.......:)
