Morning sound

Morning sound

A Poem by Rudi J.P. Lejaeghere
"

I get up every morning and it's going to be a great day. You never know when it's going to be over so I refuse to have a bad day. Paul Henderson

"

I hear the morning

in the creaking of the bed

a cough, a yawn

the shuffle of slippers

in the hall

the coffee is boiling

from far away

with intervals it reaches

my consciousness

while outside the traffic

breaks the silence

the buzzing

of child voices

in my ear

the meowing

of two hungry cats

at the back door

and the softly calling

at the bottom of the stairway

breakfast is ready.

Thanks Rudi. Great visual, and the morning's are such a beautiful time of day to me. You're a lucky man to have breakfast waiting....But seriously, those aromas and sounds are a delight, nice to lie there a little and wait. Well done as always. Dale

This is just sublime, Rudi! I deeply enjoyed the nuance of your voice, as you sang and gave life to the words of this extraordinary poem!

There is nothing to compare to the world awakening around us...a most wonderful presentation!

Thank you, Kelly, you understood it. Thanks for your wonderful comment. :) Rudi
Wayy better Rudi. Very professionally done. I actually thought that your cat was joining in at the beginning, as if wanting to be a part of the proceedings but it dawned on me they were sound effects.
Very well done and wonderfully sunny.

The coffee is boiling [suggestions: maybe 'the coffee is brewing' is a better Rudi old bean]

You are spoiled Rudi, I can see it. :)

Another good narrative in the Engles taal.

I'm a lucky guy, indeed. Family is the most important thing in my life. :) Rudi
Nice places you took me with in your poetry. I like the visions create by the description. Nice to have breakfast ready and to hear the sounds of a busy house. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

Thank you B, for passing by and reading my poem. :) Rudi
I like what is not said, not observed but sensed. What is sensed is that the writer did not make his own coffee, his own breakfast and there is a aura of grateful appreciation.

Thank you Delmar for thinking outside the box. Glad you liked it. :) Rudi
this is quite lovely.. teasing the senses with the small treasures that surface with the dawn of a new day.. beautifully done!...

If I could offer two suggestions..(just my opinion)...

"of child voices".. not sure about "child" here.. for some reason keep wanting to put "children's" there.. (flows better in my head at least)

"the meowing
of two hungry cats
at the back door
and the softly calling
at the bottom of the stairway"... would cut out "and the" and just say "softly calling".. (again, flows better in my head)...

I'm with you - it's a choice to get up on the wrong side of the bed, or to embrace each day with a smile. Your morning is lovely.
