Very unique concept of poetic expression . I saw a picture of a Boa constrictor inside a cage sleeping with bunch of scared and anxious chickens inside the same cage . Perhaps the knife depicts the great equalizer which doesn't discriminates . One way or the other it will be our turn on the chopping board And life is just like a stage . I wonder what the worm represents?

There's also aworm that never dies in a person's heart . Which will be evident in the after or next life . Thanks for the hint .
love the ending, Rudi...
as in this picture, it is similar in poetry....
often the most poignant part of art is what does not appear to the eye...but is between the strokes, and/or the lines.
a still life photo...as your poem is a still life painting in words.
makes me hungry....next time you look at your poem and the picture, there may be a pear missing.

A painted scene. It is of course intriguing to say the least as it is indicative of many things. But they way it came to you it is quite surprising. The knife from all things, cutting also sharpness and well the possibility of harm as you say with the word prey. What is it outside the confines of the painted scene? Hard to know really as it lays in imagination. Interestingly enough you gave it sotion thinking that the image of the scene will change everyday because you change everyday.
And I guess you transformed a two dimension into three and then four dimensions by adding time.

I've meant it also this way, I have even put the innocence of a child in it as a balance to the knife that is threatening. It's also a plea to think outside the box, but I know for you this is no challenge, because I've experienced that you are strong in this capacity. Thank you for your kind words and fine review. :) Rudi

I agree Rudi I have trouble conforming to any Box. I'm naughty!
I like how you used the artwork to create thoughts and places. Left the reader with thoughts and possibilities. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

Art should make us think and ponder. I liked how you used the words.
