Today let us stand upright and pretend at least that if we have not grown neither have we shrunk. Pretense won't work, of course, but we shall stand upright while we can.
Beautiful thought. As we grow older, we have to try harder to reach our sun and the moon! The poem flows smoothly, which I always like and the writing is simple, yet profound.
i agree with the earlier review of sir samuel dickens ....i picturize the tree as a human and the poem fits in beautifully ...one may associate other analogous ideas to it ...versatile indeed !
I like this tree as human idea, with its roots and branches. Many things might fit the analogy, but a tree is certainly one of the best. It grows, it breathes, drinks and feeds, and then becomes old, just like us.
