The Horseman of the Night

The Horseman of the Night

A Poem by Rudi J.P. Lejaeghere
"

The boundaries which divide Life from Death are at best shadowy and vague. Who shall say where the one ends, and where the other begins? Edgar Allan Poe

"

He’s back

the horseman of the night

I hear the beating of my heart

on the rhythm of his full gallop.

Will he stop tonight

in my town or will he wait

until I fall asleep so weary

and forget his name.

Do I hear in the wind

his silent laughter

while he whispers softly

oh, child of men

there is no escape

don’t bother

I’ll even find you

in your dreams.

This is very good to read, smooth and direct, or as direct as a poem written for adults gets.
