Home is where the heart is and it needs not be a physical home. We can find it through people or even pets. I am happy that you share a wonderful fulfilling bond between Ruby and that she is your one true home. And you feel at home wherever you go as long as she is with you. This reminds me a little bit of Hachi. The dog and the main character in the movie shared a very special friendship even not being of the same species.
