A Poem by Ruby Isabel Sandoval

The Vanilla hurt of boy just barely

Learning where to press their little

Pricks, it isn’t enough. It never was

Instead, I ache for you, with my every

Tensing, twitching, nervous muscle.

When I am watching you I am

Star struck and jittery. Your voice

Floods me. And from the inside out

I am infatuated completely… blindly

Unlike snowflakes drifting down,

tentative, timid, indecisive,  but

falling nonetheless. I want to dive

More like rain with purpose. With

These silly ideas like bubble gum pop

Popping brightly around inside my skull

You make me want to push myself

To run headfirst into dark places that

Once made me tremble. Still I will

Tremble but from your fleeting

Fingertips.
