30 Day Challenge; Day 2-A Tombstone, a First Kiss, and a Butterfly Collection.

A Story by Ms. Lee
"

I do not think I deviated this time!

Mitchell knocked on Allen's door wearily. He was still wearing his business suit, still carrying his briefcase, and his shoulders were hunched down in a desperate attempt to kiss the floor. It took a few minutes, but Allen did open the door. The first thing he did when he saw the defeated posture of his almost-boyfriend was drag him into a hug. Mitchell's arms wrapped around Allen and he dropped his briefcase with a light toss.

"Your father is a terrifying man." Mitchell sighed into Allen's shoulder after a few minutes. Allen stiffened and pulled back a little.

"My father?" he asked, tightening his hands on Mitchell's arms.

"His company was the one we were supposed to make a deal with today." Mitchell explained as Allen lead him inside the art major's apartment. "He realized who I was."

"Oh." Allen said softly, sitting down with him on the couch. "Did the deal...?"

"I don't know." Mitchell sighed, leaning back and staring at the tombstone in the middle of Allen's living room area. Raising an eyebrow, he pointed towards it and looked at the culprit. Allen grinned sheepishly and shrugged, blushing lightly.

"I'm using it for an art piece portraying the beauty in death, and emphasizing that without death life is impossible." was the explanation. Mitchell's eyebrow attained a new height and he pointed towards the small pile of butterfly collections off in the corner. Allen let out a wheezing nervous laugh and rubbed the back of his neck. "Same."

They sat in awkward silence for awhile, Mitchell exhausted and not knowing what else to say, Allen almost completely convinced that it was his fault that Mitchell's company wouldn't make the deal and that, because of that, Mitchell would leave him before they even really got together.

Mitchell sighed and grunted as he forced himself up and turned to look at the still-seated Allen. Allen forced himself to look at Mitchell, terrified at what was about to happen. Allen didn't want to be alone, and was a fair bit more attached to Mitchell than he had let on.

"So about that movie tonight..." Mitchell started, scratching the back of his head and looking away from Allen. Allen focused on the floor, unwilling to look up and trying to deny what was happening as long as possible. "I was thinking...maybe we could just stay in and watch an old movie?" Allen's head shot up and he stared at Mitchell, eyes wide. Mitchell misread and immediately backtracked, worried that he had offended his date. "I mean, I know you were really looking forward to it, but I'm kind of tired and didn't really want to go out, but if you really want to go out and see it we totally can, no problem, I just-"

He was cut off by Allen interrupting him with a kiss. Surprised, but certainly not objecting, Mitchell responded to the action with feeling, trying to commit it all to memory.

"You can go change into something more befitting to your comfort, I'll put in Indiana Jones and make some popcorn." Allen laughed as he pulled away, pushing Mitchell towards the door.

Mitchell obliged, and twenty minutes later ended up falling asleep on the couch with his head in his boyfriends lap.
