Every Day

Every Day

A Poem by Ruben Dias

Every day, he wakes up and search

For his soul mate to be there with him.

And every day, his heart just breaks,

Cause he know she isn’t there, and she never been.

He stands up and looks back at the bed,

And wonders if she is having a good night.

Looks on the cell phone and checks for the news,

And looks to the photo, and stares at her eyes.

Tears always want to fall down.

He dreams he is dancing, around and around,

With her true love in his arms, holding her close.

Every day, he goes away

To a place in his head, where she is.

And every day, he wants to stay

But the reality can’t let him go.

With his hands in the air he screams to the skies

“Why can’t it be another way?”

And every day it feels like he is going to die,

But that is before she sends him a “hello”.

And suddenly everything is all right.

He dreams he is walking, near a beach,

With her fingers tangled around his,

And he is holding her close, so much closer.

Every day, he arrives home.

And he is tired and just wants to rest

And every day, he thinks of her

Like she is his reason to live.

He wonders what the hell he is doing so far

From those eyes that he wants to see.

He wonders “why am I here and not there

I hope she is thinking of me.”

I hope she is thinking of me.”

He dreams he is there, and for the first time,

Their lips touch each other and he is holding her close

Like we won’t go away, and all he says is, this time,

“I’m going to stay”.
