Light Dark to SlayA Poem by DuttonJShine into the, darkest crevice, Solemn morn, holds no menace, Beat, push back at, quiet night, Twilight shorn, recedes to light, Brighten homes, relinquish shade, And induce life, sweet dreams abate, Waken children, seize the stars, Men and wives, tarry afar, Shed a time, shed a shade, In every place, in distant glade, In every room, lower a veil, In every face, o’er bedside tale, Go spend your rays, take it all, On every hour, let Stygian fall, Until the shade, send light away, Comes into power, dark light to slay, Then move on, like ebbing tide, In ceaseless time, move on, abide, With new children, Leave new dreams, And new lives, follow time’s streams, Move on ‘till you, come again, Come again, then go again, You’re here again, going again, Then gone again, coming again,
Light and dark must chase each other, Always one without the other, Both bordered by twilight’s grey, Unseen, untouched is Night to Day. © 2016 DuttonJAuthor's Note
