Rosalee,
I wonder how many will relate to the essence of your emotional imagery and vivid, metaphorical heart-touches pouring forth from the poignancy of your tender words(?) … I know I certainly do.
Whether autobiographical or shared from keenly experienced observation, I virtually feel the angst painfully oozing from the hard, cold concrete cracks in your stilled heartbeats.
Nice, simple rhymes, in a smoothly rendered flow, enchant and hold the mind's-eye.
How remarkable it is the heart never forgets how warmly enchanting its beats once felt, and most will feel again, once all the lonely concrete has chipped and fallen away … smiles 'n hugs of tender thanks, Dear Poetess! ⁓ Richard : )
(how wonderfully perfect the picture is … I'll send you the instructions for posting it big, atop your poem)

Love this comment about not forgetting how the heart once felt to beat. I think it's so true. No matter the darkness one can feel our souls remember the light of day. Thanks Richard!

I think this poem being short is perfect. It is sweet and to the point. I love the visual of our past hurts being filled with something as strong as concrete. beautiful.
I'm still me, but i stopped writing for a while, not willing to share myself. I'm back with a new persona to share again without abandon.
I am an aspiring author in the process of becoming myself,.. more..
