Reflections

This love hereafter...

The sun is setting now
Setting in the distance
It's reflection ricochets in rainbow patterns across the shadows
The shadows where only she exists now
As her mind is lost,  wondering in the now dense fields of memories past

The moment his lungs whispered their last retort
The day he clinched her hand so tightly
Mouthed the words, I'll see you soon my love

The day they came here
His gentle reminders
That encouraging touch
So subtle
So strong
So secure
So tested

And those younger days
The struggles of youth
The times that wondered
The days that questioned.. all are over now
Replaced with the knowledge of love and it's growing gradations through time,  through space
Unchanging of things so sure

She recalled that day
So very long ago
And the anticipation that built
The butterflies

That moment,
When their eyes at last did meet
In the clarity of knowledge
But wait a moment...
What is that light?
A stranger in that distance?

No,  someone familiar
A voice that whispers truths
And eyes that see the light
I told you my love,  I'd see you soon
