Newness of Lovers

Anxiously you trace my wrists
Meeting my eyes in short glances
Leaving my shallow breaths transfixed
What could be if we were willing to take chances?

The closer you are,  the closer we become
While you fondle my skin with your thumb
So close i can almost taste your breath
Leaving my imagination restless

Release these fears at last
Forgive the past
Dive off this tattered cliff
Into the ocean of your abyss

My body held captive, enthralled
While your lips press against mine
My doubts dissolved
Leaving delightful shivers down my spine

I used to miss the "first time" when in a stable relationship. The unexpected, sometimes disappointing sometimes eye popping. I'm now 25 years into marriage and now very much love the safe, comfortable. How age changes us eh.
