Eyes of DeathA Poem by RELavenderJust another poem I wrote in my freetime
I looked into the eyes of death and said hello
And it replied, "Is it time for you to go?" I answered, "No, you will have me later." So it bid me, "See you later, alligator." When I came back to the land of the living I realized I needed some forgiving. Throughout my life I've feared this being, It, I have never truly been seeing. The fault for this is not my own, As to all humans, it is known. For, what man has returned from the grave, Then, explained how it is inside death's cave? Of the many men who've died on land, Even those resurrected from death's hand, None have told of what it was like, Or related how it felt without life's light. So, who am I to fear what I don't know? Death is merely the final status quo. It has befallen all who've lived before us, And perhaps even a generation or two plus. It is a force to which all men succumb One of many that man cannot outrun. It is the final end for all imperfect men, Where they go when they cannot mend. It is just another thing humans don't understand. Like why the earth is made with so little land. It is human nature to fear what can't be explained. That must be why Death isn't offended by being forever shamed. © 2016 RELavenderReviews
