Creatures of the nightA Poem by RELavenderThis is a poem I wrote. The style is not as archaic if the poem is read aloud.
Creatures of the night
Who can say That they're not scared By the creatures of the night, Ones that lurk just out of view When we turn off the lights? They're whispers from the shadows And voices in the dark. They cause the tears of widows Who've forgotten they have no ark. Some might say That they don't quake and that they have no fright Of monsters That seem gone day But hunt when out of sight. The men that claim they have no fear Have bravado seen by all And at the claws of beasts so near They are always the first to fall. I can't say "My legs tremble" And insist that it's not terror The fear fills From toes to nose It pours out of the mirror. Those to themselves lie Pretend that they don't quake and when by creatures die I see their fearlessness is fake We might say "Bring on the lights Let's end our fears forever." But we know when they go out trying to win was our fatal error. Death is not for us to hate Far scarier things exist like shadowded beasts that arrive late To give us deathfull cysts.
