Perigee

Perigee

A Poem by Nihad Dweidary
"

For those who like outer space and the science of moving objects...

"

My skin tingles at your words,

And my eyes scream in longing for you.

As I helplessly spin around your vast orbit,

Cold, lifeless, and dry,

I want you to warm me,

Gravitate me,

Wet me with your perigee.

I want you to make your closeness

My satiating point,

Lest I die,

Lest I drown in spherical darkness

Beneath the sunset of all fancies.

How near to the earth does the moon have to be before dreams take over! There isn't a line that doesn't make for moon sickness :-)

As the sun warms the earth, so to do your words warm the heart. The last two lines are my favorite: beautiful!
