Lover in the SandA Poem by Nihad DweidaryI haven't forgotten....I kneel before this ocean, Humbled as a monk in prayer, While he entertains My ears with a calm, soothing hush. Hush… Hush… I cry, Sand ingesting tears, A fugitive possession It instantly gives back to the waters. Hands buried in a million grains, Deep beyond my wrists, And water digging trenches Beneath my knees- The ocean has stolen everything from me. My face wet, I pause to think How you proudly contend With life as I do, and how Not too far from where I am, When you brave this infinity, These tears will wash your feet.
