Siblings, and Maxxie

Siblings, and Maxxie

A Chapter by Royal Borealis

I walked up to him and I remembered how I was both upset, and happy when I saw his face. It was, as always, carefree, and maybe a bit smug, but it was my brother after all.
When I got over to him, I looked around to see if anyone was around. Of course, no one was. But, still, those empty streets made me paranoid. The only thing other than me and my brother, was a stray cat, whos pelt was gray, and their where patches of fur missing.
"What are you doing out here?!" I gritted through me teeth. Even though no one was out, I didn't want anyone to hear.
"I forgot my keys inside." He joked. My brother's name was Eric, and some said I looked just like him, regarding the fact I dyed my hair turquoise, while his was royal blue.
"Eric, thats not funny." I said has I passed him and walked up the stairs. When I got to the door, I felt Eric looming over me. I started to unlock the door, I heard my dog, Maxxie, on the other side, begging for me to come in.
The door opened with a click, and Eric pushed his way through me, so I wouldn't lock him out. Eric wasn't supposed to be here, and  I didn't want to get him in trouble.
"Go home Eric you're not supposed to be here." I told him.
"It's my house." He argued.
"No, you live with dad, ever since the divorce." I countered.
"You're no fun." Eric said with a smirk, petting Maxxie on the head. Maxxie was a Great Dane, and was a rather big dog.
"Go home."
"I am home." Just at that moment my sister, Carrie, walked through the door, and was rather surprised.
"Eric's visiting!" She cheered jumping up and down, her yellow dress swishing as she moved. She ran up and gave him a big hug.
"No he was just leaving." I said trying to usher him out the door. Sue gave me the saddest of looks, a guilt look if you will. After a moment of thought, I gave in, and said, "Fine he can stay, Mom doesn't come home 'till later anyway."
"Yay!" Carrie cheered, hugging Maxxie. Maxxie was my dog, and I didn't make that decision, Maxxie did.
I truly loved when Eric came over, I did, and I wouldn't enjoy seeing him in trouble, or in danger. I hated that. I just want Eric to take care of himself more than he takes care of me. It's my fault he's gone anyway.
